Registered Massage Therapy: Amy Carr-Hilton
As a registered massage therapist with a background in yoga and fitness, my passion for educating people in preventative and rehabilitative self-care has led me to pursue training in fitness and exercise psychology, yoga therapy, sports massage therapy, neurokinetic therapy, and pediatric massage.
I understand how important it is for you to feel comfortable and capable in your body so that you can be active in the things that bring you joy, and I’m dedicated to helping you reach your goals. Treatment with me will include evidence based therapy, involving muscle energy, myofascial rehydration, deep tissue and neuromuscular techniques to accompany your individualized home exercise/stretch program as is indicated by your goals and concerns.
My interests include working with old trauma injuries, such as fractures and dislocated joints, that may be affecting your performance, and creating better muscle and joint function to avoid those annoying repetitive strain injuries. Working as a Registered Massage Therapist on the West coast is such a gift! I find being part of the healing process fascinating and rewarding. Working closely and connecting with people has always made sense to me.
After recovering from a number of sports and repetitive stress injuries, I gained a new sense of freedom through movement. It led to my interest in rehabilitation and manual therapy. My goal is to help you reach your optimal health so that you can do what you love.
We’ll take the time to go over why you’re here and what you really need. There is a saying that “pain isn’t always where the problem is” and I’m interested in addressing the root of the problem.
Through my training at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, you can expect me to use evidence based massage therapy techniques such as myofascial mobilization, trigger point release, and joint mobilizations. With a background in teaching fitness, I love educating patients on therapeutic exercises that they can do safely at home. I am experienced in prenatal massage and treating pelvic floor dysfunction.
When I’m not in the clinic, you can find me in the mountains! Skiing, hiking, biking, trail running, or in the studio practicing Yoga.
Massage therapy is for everyone and making your health a priority is a necessity. I believe that we live in a world where our nervous systems are constantly interpreting noise, combating stress, fighting off illness and coping with trauma. We need self-care now more than ever.
